We use a 100% convection roasting method, made possible with Typhoon Roasters, which are energy efficient, cost effective, and sustainable. With convection roasting, the coffee beans are less affected by external factors, including temperature and humidity changes. Convection roasters do not accumulate thermal energy throughout the day which helps keep the temperature both inside and outside of the roaster more stable.

Convection roasting, compared to the abundantly used conduction method, results in less defects in the beans while roasting. The primary cause of “bean defects” comes from the metal of regular conduction roasters heating to almost 600 degrees (F). In a convection roaster, two things are done to combat this

1) the roaster is made with stainless steel which accumulates less heat than other metals often used for conduction roasters and

2) many layers of air - yes, you heard it right, air - forms between the coffee beans and the metal. reducing this contact time also helps keep the bean temperature more stable.

The automated controls of the Loring S15 Falcon™ streamline the roasting process, from dropping green beans from the hopper to discharging roasted beans, ensuring consistent and high-quality results. Sustainability:

Most coffee roasting requires an extremely high amount of energy to produce roasted coffee beans. Typhoon Roasters use a special heat transfer system which requires less energy to heat the machines - in fact, they use up to 50% less energy than traditional drum roasters, reducing energy consumption and its carbon footprint. In addition to this, the roasters only need to operate at lower temperatures, aiding in energy reduction. Typhoon Roasters were made compatible with renewable energy sources.
